Consultation on Improving the Energy Efficiency of Products - Evidence, Analysis, Targets and Indicative Standards

Thu 16/07/2009

16th July 2009 at the Royal Horticultural Halls, Westminster, London

You are cordially invited to the launch of the 2009 consultation on energy-efficient products, held jointly by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes.

This consultation is being launched as part of the Government's commitments on energy and sustainable products announced in the Energy White Paper in May 2007. It is the second in a series in which the Government sets out its analysis of how the energy efficiency of a number of product groups will need to improve between now and 2030 in order to achieve the UK's climate change targets. This includes proposals for indicative domestic and non-domestic product efficiency standards, as well as targets to phase out the least efficient products.

The launch event will:

*introduce the consultation;
*provide an update on progress;
*ensure that delegates are well-prepared to respond to the consultation.

Additionally, workshop sessions will also be held to provide an outline the specific product groups including:

*domestic appliances;
*lighting;
*heating, air conditioning and motor driven systems;
*consumer electronics and ICT.

The consultation papers will be made available in a few weeks time on this website.

There will also be a session on proposals for a revised compliance and enforcement regime, which was launched for consultation on 11 June (and can be found here: http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/eup-labelling/index.htm)

The event will be held between 10:30 and 15:15 at the Royal Horticultural Halls, Westminster.
