Product Strategies

In line with the Government's commitment in the Energy White Paper 2007, the Market Transformation Programme has, on an annual basis, updated its evidence base, which covers a large number of domestic and non-domestic energy-using products. It sets out the Government's current performance standards (also referred to as 'Government Standards') for energy-using products, projected from present day to 2020. This evidence is published in a public consultation document that inform UK Government decisions on product policy.

Following a recent review of the MTP evidence base, a revised public consultation document is due for publication later in 2009.  The Policy Briefs produced following the 2007/08 consultation can be downloaded below.

MTP also generates Briefing Notes.  These explanatory documents provide background information to the Policy Briefs:

  • Rationales and definitions used to construct the MTP models
  • Assumptions made to model the impact of potential policy measures
  • Details of new and emerging technology
  • Results of energy efficiency product testing

Following the most recent review of the MTP evidence base, a series of Government Standards Briefing Notes (GSBNs) have been developed to accompany the public consultation document. These will be available later in 2009.
