The Market Transformation Programme provides environmental performance data on products to help reduce their environmental impacts:
- The What-If? Tool presents a range of scenarios on the future energy consumption until 2020 for nearly 30 domestic and commercial products. This includes a Reference scenario, an Earliest Best Practice scenario and a Policy scenario.
- Buying "green" can be a complex business. The Market Transformation Programme supports UK Government policy on sustainable procurement.
- Information on product policy compliance
These environmental performance data complement product strategies.
After a review of the usage of the What If tool, it is now our intention to remove it from this site on the 30th of July 2010. Please note that all the information held within the tool is from 2008; more up to date information can be obtained from the recently published Government Standards and Briefing Notes at http://efficient-products.defra.gov.uk/cms/product-strategies/. However, if you would like to comment, please contact the MTP helpline on 0845 600 8951, and if this indicates sufficient and widespread interest in keeping the What If tool available, we may reverse this decision.
