Consultation on sustainable products - improving the efficiency of energy-using products
1. This consultation implements an Energy White Paper commitment to publish a series of papers analysing how the performance of a range of energy-using products will need to improve over the next 10 – 20 years. It forms part of a wider annual review and policy development process, supporting delivery of the Government’s objectives for energy and for sustainable consumption and production.
Eleven separate papers cover the following areas:
AEA Energy & Environment is managing this consultation, as lead contractor on the Government’s Market Transformation Programme (MTP), on behalf of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

4. Responses should be received by 27 February 2008 for all papers apart from Domestic heating and hot water systems for which replies should be received by 14 April 2008.
5. In line with Defra´s policy of openness, at the end of the consultation period, copies of the responses we receive will be made publicly available through the Defra Information Resource Centre, Lower Ground Floor, Ergon House, 17 Smith Square, London SW1P 3JR. The information they contain will also be published in a summary of responses.
6. If you do not consent to this, you must clearly request that your response be treated confidentially. Any confidentiality disclaimer generated by your IT system in e-mail responses will not be treated as such a request. You should also be aware that there may be circumstances in which Defra will be required to communicate information to third parties on request, in order to comply with its obligations under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations.

Consumer electronics consultation (closed end of August 2007)
As with the consultation above, the Consumer Electronics consultation followed publication of the Energy White Paper of 23 May 2007. This consultation will further help to formulate our long-term energy policy. The consultation period on Consumer Electronics closed at the end of August 2007. The Government's response to the consultation is published below.
