    January 2007

The review is based on interviews with 11 governmental bodies in nine Member States and six consumer organisations in six Member States. It disclosed several compliance problems of the EU energy labelling scheme, which may result in reduction of consumer confidence and involvement and eventually hampering a successful implementation of the label scheme and realisation of energy savings.

Disposal of TV equipment: possible impact of digital switchover (441kB)

    January 2007

This document reports on a study, requested by the DTI and DEFRA to develop projections of how much, if any, waste will arise specifically as a result of the digital switchover programme - both at national an  regional (TV) levels.

     Product Overview - Water (216kB)

    January 2007

This paper focuses on the in-use water consumption of products currently covered by MTP. It describes the current evidence base developed by MTP, gives an indication of the savings potential and puts forward suggestions for possible furture work to reduce the environmental impact of products.

     Product Overview - Waste (146kB)

    January 2007

This paper focuses on MTP's work on waste issues. The quantities of waste arising from products covered by the MTP's evidence base are provided and these are put into context with overall UK waste arisings. Examples of projects in the waste area are described and the future direction of MTP activities in the waste area are laid out.

     Monitoring Home Computers (970kB)

    September 2006

The MTP and the Energy Saving Trust (EST) contracted BRE to collect information about energy consumption of home computers, and typical patterns of use. The information will be used by MTP to support modelling work and by EST to support energy labelling and interventions to bring about behavioural change. The key research objective was to record levels of energy consumption for home computers and collect information on how the computers are used.
